Description
This yixing teapot was made by hand in Yixing in the year 1999, from Zisha (purple clay). It has a cubic, curved-sides shape with yellow dotted pieces on sides adding the texture.
Artisan-Made
Made by an artist at the 1st Yixing Clay Artist’s Facility in Yixing County, Jiangsu Province. The shape shows great skill – the teapot’s lines are balanced and comfortable to use, and the woven design is intricate and neatly done.
Zisha Purple Yixing Clay
Yixing clay is gathered from deep underground, and sorted and often aged before being made into teaware. Purple clay is from the deepest part of the clay storage container, where the smoothest, densest, and most shiny clay is. With use over time, a gleaming texture will develop, and the teapot will become even more beautiful and interesting.
Aged Yixing Clay Teapot
This yixing teapot has been stored carefully for over 20 years. The clay has stabilized, improving the teapot by reducing shiny firing marks, as well as any harsh smell or flavor from the kiln. The result is a purer cup of tea.
