Ancient Tree Raw Pu-Erh, also called Gu Shu Sheng Pu-Erh, is rare on market. It is harvested from trees averaging 500-years-old, growing on the specially protected lands of the Jing Mai Mountains. The trees grow naturally, without the use of pesticides. The roots of these ancient trees pull minerals and nutrients from deep in the forest floor, producing leaves with very complex flavors.
Our Ancient Tree Pu-Erh has sweetness balanced by a soft astringency. The fragrance is orchid-like, with subtle notes of green olive.
A “tong” is 7 cakes (Bingcha) of Pu-Erh wrapped in bamboo for both shipping and storage efficiency. If you buy a tong (7 cakes) of Jing Mai Ancient Tree Raw Pu-Erh, you pay for only 6 cakes, one cake is free! A tong of 200 gm. cakes weighs 1,400 grams.
About aging: C C Fine Tea’s Pu-Erh Cakes have all been aged for at least 6 years, and are ready to be enjoyed, or collected for further aging. Additional storage for up to 5-10 years will result in a deeper color, smoother flavor, and increase the tea’s value! Cake weight may have slightly decreased, due to years of aging, with a few grams of moisture released.
