How to Use the Auto Brewer

The guidelines below will help anyone brew a perfect cup of tea with no bitterness or unwanted astringency. Feel free to adjust to taste!

1. Warm the Automatic Tea Brewer (optional)

Place the infuser on the pitcher and fill it halfway with water at the suggested temperature, cover, and let all the water go into the pitcher.

Suggested Water Temperatures

  • Green Tea
    • 180-195°F
    • 82-90°C
  • Oolong Tea & Raw Pu-Erh
    • 180-205°F
    • 85-96°C
  • White Tea, Jasmine, & Scented Tea
    • 175-195°F
    • 80-98°C
  • Black Tea & Ripe Pu-Erh
    • 195-210°F
    • 90-98°C

2. Measure the Tea

Place approximately 1 Tbsp. of tea in the upper brewing vessel.

Suggested Tea Quantity

  • Green Tea, Black Tea, Jasmine, & Scented Tea
    • 4-5 g
  • Rolled Oolong & Loose Pu-Erh
    • 6-8 g
  • White Tea, Long Leaf Oolong, & Pressed Tea Cakes
    • 5-6 g

3. Wake Up the Tea (optional)

This step is usually done for all teas except Green Tea and tea bags. Add enough heated water to cover the tea in the infuser. Place the lid on the infuser and let the water drain into the pitcher. This is called washing the tea, or waking up the tea. Discard the rinse water after it has drained into the pitcher.

4. Brew the Tea

Fill the infuser with water at the suggested temperature and replace the lid. It will take about 2.5 minutes to finish brewing. Drink and enjoy!

5. Rebrew

You can steep most teas multiple times; some can even last for 5-10 brews. Continue as long as the flavor stays strong enough.

Innovative, Patented Design

The Automatic Tea Brewer is patented in Taiwan, China, and the US, and is the result of almost two decades of development and refinement. In 2002, the design won a silver medal for teaware at the New York Fancy Food Show.

Unlike other stacked brewers, there is no button or rotation step required to release the tea water. Thus, regardless of the experience or distraction of the user, the tea is perfectly brewed every time.

  • 2.5-minute steep time is controlled by a timed drip through a stainless-steel mesh filter
  • Recommendations are provided for amount of tea leaf and water temperature for all categories of tea
  • Ideal for tea bags as well as loose-leaf tea (we recommend using two full-leaf tea sachets in the auto brewer)
  • Stacked design minimizes the space required for brewing
