Description
Unique Flavor & Fragrance
Yunnan Black is a highly fermented black tea, which brews a golden-orange colored liquid with a fresh, malty flavor, a smooth, full body, and a nectar-like sweetness. The aroma is rich, floral, and perfume-like, reminiscent of baked sweet potato and chestnut.
Authentic Tea Garden
Yunnan Black (called Tian Hong in Chinese) is made from a large-leaf variety of tea plant from the Meng Ku region of Yunnan, in southern China. Our Yunnan Black Tea is grown in the original Yunnan Black tea region, Feng Qing, in Yunnan Province at an altitude of 2,000 meters.
History of Yunnan Black Tea
Yunnan Black was first created in 1938, when the large-leaf Pu-Erh tea variety was used to make black tea. A small sample of the new tea was sent to Hong Kong, and quickly became popular in the area, due to its special floral fragrance.
The next year, the first container of Yunnan Black Tea was sent to London, where it was sold at auction for a high price. From then on, this beautiful, delicate tea was often presented as a gift to European ambassadors and other elites in the first half of the 20th century. In 1986, Queen Elizabeth II herself visited the first Yunnan Black facility in Feng Qing, Yunnan Province.
