Description
This yixing teapot was made by hand in Yixing in the year 1999, from Zisha (purple clay) and mixed with some Zhuni (red clay). It has a cubic shape with circular details and very precise geometry.
Artisan-Made
Made by an artist at the 1st Yixing Clay Artist’s Facility in Yixing County, Jiangsu Province. The shape shows great skill – the teapot is simple, without excess decoration, but contains many lines, circles, and angles that are all balanced, straight, and stable.
Zisha Purple Yixing Clay
Yixing clay is gathered from deep underground, and sorted and often aged before being made into teaware. Purple clay is from the deepest part of the clay storage container, where the smoothest, densest, and most shiny clay is. With use over time, a gleaming texture will develop, and the teapot will become even more beautiful and interesting.
Aged Yixing Clay Teapot
This yixing teapot has been stored carefully for over 20 years. The clay has stabilized, improving the teapot by reducing shiny firing marks, as well as any harsh smell or flavor from the kiln. The result is a purer cup of tea.

About Yixing Clay
Yixing County has been the home of countless artisans for over 500 years. The artisans worked together with the area’s remarkable clay to produce the world’s greatest tradition in fine teaware. Stylistically rich, detailed, delicate, and extremely useful, Yixing teaware is an essential element in the art of tea.
This teapot’s thick walls and high iron content of the clay provide excellent insulation, protecting your tea from temperature variations. In addition, the porous structure of Yixing clay allows the teapot to breathe, preventing mold in your teapot. The clay itself is found in Jiangsu’s craggy cliffs, after which it is crushed, sieved, and only the finest clay is selected to produce a smooth texture. Over years of use, the clay will take on a rich hue.
