Description
This Ru Yao cup-and-filter set comes in two classic glazes: moon white and sky blue. A fine white mesh covers the opening of the filter, preventing any leaf particles from passing through.
Fired twice at 800°C and 1300°C, the set emulates the silky texture and luster of the original Song dynasty pieces, even down to the unique crack pattern in the glaze that develops and darkens with use.
The cup has a heavy and comfortable feeling in the hand, and compliment the earth tones of the tea table.
Ru Yao Ware
These Ru Yao teacups are made in Dehua, China, faithfully recreating China’s most rare and prized imperial pottery.
Ru Yao ware was originally made for a 20-year period during the Northern Song dynasty. There are only 65 remaining original pieces known in the world, and are the most valuable of all Chinese porcelain ware.
