Matcha green tea powder was originally made in China 1,000 years ago. In the 12th century, the Japanese adopted matcha, which they developed alongside the famous tea ceremony. Our high-quality matcha grown and processed using the techniques perfected over the centuries in Japan and China:
- The tea garden is shaded for several weeks
- Harvested leaves are steamed and made into tencha (small pieces of dry green tea for grinding)
- Tencha is milled into an extraordinarily fine powder
